its quite sad, when i find myself writing my blog in the comfort of an air-conditioned room called a "business centre" in a reservist training centre, that there are still so many people in the world that are suffering from hunger. no obvious link, i suppose, but it's just plain frustrating that not enough aid from developed countries are getting into the hands of the people who are suffering.

Call me a cynic, but i think the "integrated resort", a.k.a. casino will be eventually axed by the government as a example of "openness and debate". The government will then earn political capital for "listening to the people".

BBC NEWS Americas Iraq prison abuse 'leader' jailed
The sentence was 10 years in jail. In contrast, the defendents in the Singapore case of the dunking incident, which caused 1 death of a trainee, were sentenced to 9 months jail. The maximum sentence was 4 years.
